Bill Sutherland, Sr. Director
A 30+ year hobby veteran, a 19-year Beckett veteran and a lifelong collector, Bill was tapped to develop and lead Beckett Auction Services in early 2014, and after a successful launch went on to take over and expand the reach of Beckett Business Solutions, helping dealers sell more cards and reach larger audiences. Bill now serves a dual role here at Beckett, leading BBS while working with the Beckett Auction Services team on a day to day basis.
Bill’s sports card career started at 10 years old when he set up at his first show as a “dealer” and since then he has been hooked. As owner of his own sports card business during his college years at UIC and Purdue University, Bill hit the show circuit throughout the Midwest and made numerous industry contacts before being hired on at Beckett Publications in 1996. Over the years at Beckett, he has spent time in the pricing department, interactive department, various management positions and most recently as the Chief Hobby Operations Officer, focusing on the e-commerce department. Bill has previously worked on auctions for Beckett while partnering with several professional sports leagues, top tier athletes, player agents and more. Bill’s expertise in the field of collectibles has landed him appearances on Good Day Dallas, Good Morning Texas, FOX4 News plus several newspaper articles and radio appearances. Bill is a graduate of the Texas Auction Academy and is a licensed auctioneer through the state of Texas. Bill is a lifelong collector of sports cards and memorabilia, vintage model trains, antique convertibles, vintage action figures and is also a U.S. coin and currency enthusiast.
